Brennan Visser
(Jonathan Coltrane)

Brennan is a friend of Jon Bowes’ with a natural ability for acting.  In A Thousand Hills he used his talent to play the deceitful son of Nick Coltrane, Jonathan.  The two boys met while acting in local stage productions.   His energy and realistic acting won him praise from the director.  He caught the inner struggle of the character, caught between his mission to help his father get the farm and his growing feelings of friendship for David and his growing love for the farm itself.  During the first week of shooting Brennan broke his arm (NOT on the set, thankfully).  His arm had to be hidden in all the following shots by clothing or the position of his arm.  He was always a good sport as he was asked to repeat scenes over and over.  For the ‘stealing the CD’s scene he was asked to fall at least twenty times.  In the scene looking over David’s shoulder after taking a bite of a sandwich, Brennan swallowed each bite.  There were so many takes that we ran out of fresh sandwiches and he was groaning because he his stomach was so full. The crews roared in laughter as he talked with his mouth full and spit out the lines and sometime bits of sandwich  This was his ‘best’ day, especially when the ham and cheese fell out of the bread and stuck on his arm. His ‘worst’ day was in the car when it was hot and cramped. Brennan has been in two school plays since A Thousand Hills. He plans to leave acting behind to become accountant.  Probably a more stable income, but the screen will miss your smiling face.
