Phil Randazzo (Nick Coltrane)
Phil got the part of Nick by a total accident. He drove his two daughters to the audition for minor parts, but they were going out of the country to visit family for the weeks that A Thousand Hills was being shot. Josh Rance persuaded Phil to do a screen test and audition. He was perfect for Nick. It took some persuasion, but eventually Phil agreed to take on his first-ever acting role. He says there really wasn’t a ‘best day’ for him because he enjoyed the entire experience. He met really nice people and loved both cast and crew, finding them to be accommodating and very professional. He does remember the day when the egg was dropped on his shoe and David passed by with the dead squirrel. He doesn’t recall a ‘worst day’, but found the air conditioning in the car kept him from getting too sweaty in the car shots. Phil runs a group home for community living. He is patient and kind with the residents, witnessed by some of us when he needed to re-record a couple of voice lines only. He brought two of ‘the guys’ with him and included them in the whole process. Having them visit, and giving them cookies and treats, enriched us immensely as we recorded Phil’s few lines that are heard by David as he peeks through the kitchen window. |
