Megan Kingsbury
(Lauren Byrd)

Megan started singing in memory of her father, an avid singer, who she lost at an early age.  She is now a triple threat actress who can sing, dance and act.  She has studied in the Musical Theatre Performance Program at St. Clair college in Ontario.  Throughout high school she appeared in Bye, Bye, Birdie; City of Angels; Children of Eden and Moby Dick the Musical.   She has won numerous awards and scholarships for voice, including the York Region Celebration of the Arts Bursary and Music Fest Excellence in Music Scholarship.  Megan came into A Thousand Hills at the last minute.  The producers were desperate after losing another person and begged Megan, then a counselor at a camp, to come to audition during an evening break.  She looked amazing on camera, her acting and her voice were perfect for the part.  The only problem was she was committed to the camp.  The shooting schedule was rearranged to fit Megan’s life.  She left camp and came to shoot that day.  One of her hardest days of shooting was the night scene in her bedroom which went on all night. She was a trooper and would come to the farm at a moment’s notice when there was time to shoot one of her scenes.  The scenes with her and Phillip (Terence Duraisami) were shot the week that Jon was in Mexico.  Perfect timing. Megan and Jon naturally fell into the brother sister relationship and enjoyed the pestering and banter so much that they carried it off set into playful, joking down times. Megan and the director formed a special bond as Allison lent her earrings and jewelry and they figured out which outfits Lauren would be wearing.  Megan’s goal is a career in musical theater.  She is so beautiful and realistic on camera it’s everyone’s hope that she will also consider doing some more film acting as well.

"My favourite actor was the sister.  She did a good job of showing a variety of emotions."
