Even a helicopter was possible when the owner realized we were just a small company. He enjoyed the challenge.

This was our "production trailer". We hauled our 40 or 50,000 dollars worth of rented equipment in this.

Locations like this one added alot to the film and were very low cost. We only paid for staff member to stay while we filmed.

No production tractor trailers, catered lunches, mobile dressing rooms for us.

We were on the low budget film agenda.

It was a tough job because there was never enough of anything it seemed, which put pressure on the crew and cast.  So it was by no means the desirable route to follow, but we learned that if you follow your passion you’ll get it done.  And that it is important to hook up with people that are also following their passion, because those people will give a 110%.  And there are times you need that passion and commitment.

Our director, Allison Wilmarth, made the comment one day that there were no “hired guns” on our set.  What she meant was no-one was there for the money or the glory.  People were there for the passion of it.  And that was the key, everyone was united with a common goal of producing the film.

She has more to say about this in the "Making of A Thousand Hills" 30 minute short on the DVD.  She is very inspirational.
