In 2005, Stephen and Sandy Bowes embarked on a dream.  A dream to make a movie.  When they started the journey, they had little idea the complexities it would entail.  They were fortunate to find an excellent director - Allison Wilmarth and an outstanding cinematographer - Ioana Vasile.  The other pieces all came together with a  mix of amateurs and professionals performing and crewing on the movie.  It was filmed over a 7 week period in the summer of '05 bringing to life a script that Sandy had created over a period of about a year and a half and is partly based on experiences they had while living on the farm.  A tremendous musical soundtrack by Rob Pottorf completed the film in late 2007 and the movie was done.  "A Thousand Hills" is the story of a boy trying to save the family farm using his gift of singing.  It is the feel good 'farm' movie of the year for sure, and being enjoyed by all ages.

"It is rare today to find a movie that all of the family can enjoy, and rarer still that it is a touching story and of outstanding quality. "A Thousand Hills" is all of these and more. With cinematography, score and acting that rivals big budget Hollywood films, "A Thousand Hills" charms as an independent film while easily making you forget that it is not a Hollywood production. It makes you laugh and it makes you cry, and in the end just makes you feel good."
- Douglas G. Brown, Newmarket

"Beautiful scenery and filming captured the moments perfectly."

"Fantastic!  Very moving!  Facial expressions very very touching."
